Eugene, OR – July 17, 2020 – BestMed, a comprehensive provider of quality urgent care, primary care, physical therapy, and musculoskeletal services in Oregon and Montana, has announced the addition of Sharon DeHart, PA-C, to its team of healthcare providers. DeHart will begin treating patients at BestMed’s Florence clinic, located at 4480 Highway 101 N Suite G Florence Oregon 97439 this August.

In 2002, after twenty years working as an emergency medical services responder, DeHart obtained her Physician Assistant certification to expand her capacity to provide quality care to patients in need. Since earning her certification, DeHart has treated patients in a variety of settings, such as a free community clinic, a community hospital, and a comprehensive medical clinic in which she focused heavily on adult and pediatric acute and chronic care. Committed to ensuring that all patients, regardless of their ability, can receive high-quality healthcare, DeHart also treated nursing home patients and provided at-home care.

“What I love most about practicing medicine is helping people understand their bodies and what they can do for themselves—and then helping them when they can’t,” said DeHart. “I am excited to be joining the team at BestMed and to expand my ability to provide for patients throughout the continuum of their lifetime healthcare needs. BestMed is known for its commitment to rural communities, and its compassionate, high-quality care culture. There is nowhere else I’d rather be at this phase of my career.”

Dr. Lyle Torguson, BestMed Medical Director of Primary Care Services, praised DeHart’s ability to obtain her patient’s trust by providing honest and hopeful insights and treatment options.

“Sharon is precisely what we look for in a member of our team,” said Torguson. “She is knowledgeable, comforting, and persistent in her passion for helping her patients achieve their best possible outcomes. We cannot wait to introduce her to the Florence community.”

DeHart received a Bachelor of Science Degree with Honors in Pre-Medical General Sciences from Oregon State University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Oregon Health & Sciences University School of Medicine. She received the Karen Whitaker Knapp Service Award from the Oregon Health & Sciences University Physician Assistant Program in 2019 and is a 2018 recipient of the Rural Health Hero of the Year award from the Oregon Office of Rural Health.
