As a caregiver who understands the value of ongoing education, Cindy earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from San Diego State University in 1984, a Master of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of California, San Francisco in 1993, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Oregon Health and Science University in 2009. Throughout her career, Cindy has worked in a variety of care center facilities, including hospitals, university health centers, and private practices.
In addition to her expertise in internal medicine, Cindy has committed herself to sexual assault training and response, helping to fulfill a critical need for education and advocacy in the college campus environment. She developed the first certified Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program at the University of Oregon and has shared her knowledge in the area of sexual assault prevention by participating in a variety of educational presentations on the topic. Furthering her efforts to protect women on college campuses, Cindy testified before the 2007 and 2009 Oregon Legislature on behalf of House Bills 2154 and 2014 with recognition by both the Governor and Attorney General for her work on their successful passing.
Cindy’s recognition by Eugene Magazine in 2016 is only one in a long line of well-deserved accolades and awards she has received throughout her career, yet what she values most is the trust and respect of her patients. When not treating patients and advocating for women’s health, Cindy can be found spending time with her children, running, or on the bike trails. An accomplished cyclist, Cindy has cycled from Russia to Portugal and from China to Singapore.
