Wendy earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon, in 1994. She began her career working in the public sector. “As a public health nurse, I provided home visits to pregnant and parenting women. I saw a disconnect in the health care system impacting moms after they had their babies. They had healthcare until six weeks postpartum with their OB/GYN, and then they were without a regular provider. I went back to school to provide more opportunities in our local community for people to access health care.”
Inspired by her desire to provide a higher level of care to women and other patients in need, Wendy earned a Master of Science Degree in Nursing from Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa, in 2007. Dedicated to the Roseburg area and its patients, Wendy began treating primary care patients at Evergreen Family Medicine in 2007. Most recently, Wendy worked as a Nurse Practitioner at KidsDocs in Roseburg, Oregon, where she provided primary health care to children from birth to age 20. In addition, since 2015, Wendy has worked at Douglas C.A.R.E.S, a facility that provides a child-friendly environment for assessment, advocacy, and crisis counseling concerning child abuse and prevention. In her role as an on-call provider at Douglas C.A.R.E.S., Wendy performs specialized medical exams for child abuse victims.
If Wendy could give one piece of advice to all of her patients, it would be to live a lifestyle marked by emotional and physical health wellness. “Stay healthy and enjoy life to the fullest.”
When Wendy isn’t improving her patients’ health and wellbeing, she supports the local theater community. “I have performed in plays and musicals through the Umpqua Actors Community Theater (UACT) and Umpqua Community College (UCC) and have even been an extra on television shows and in two movies.” Wendy also enjoys hiking and spending time with her family at their home in Sutherlin. “I have two girls that were both adopted at birth. In the summer of 2021, my husband and I will celebrate 26 years of marriage.”
